Helpful Tips for completing your Application 

Application Checklist 

Please review the application checklist below to ensure that you have all the information you need to successfully complete your submission.

1.Artist Bio 

• Your bio may include key details about yourself, your artistic style, relevant education or work experience, influences, significant projects you are working on or have completed, media coverage, etc.
• Try to keep your artistic bio within 2-3 paragraphs if possible.

2. Artistic CV / Resume and/or CV’s if applying as a group. 

• Please include all CV’s in one document as you may only upload one file for this question. 

3. Title/ Working Title of Exhibit 

4. Exhibition Statement 

The exhibit statement is an opportunity for you to highlight the key details of the the exhibition. Consider including the following in your statement:

• Discuss any specific mediums, concepts, and ideas related to the work that is to be displayed. 
•  What inspired the work you have included? 
•  Any other relevant information that you feel may help others connect to the pieces presented. 

5. Total number of artworks to be exhibited 

• Please provide an estimate if the pieces are not yet completed. 
• Be mindful that there is a minimum of ten pieces

6. List of All artwork intended to be displayed

• Must include title, medium, date created and dimensions for each piece. 
• Include images of the artwork if it has already been completed. 
• If the artwork is still in progress, please include as many details and relevant images as possible. Early sketches, or smaller pieces can be very helpful as well. Be very specific about how many pieces you intend to display and the estimated date of completion.  
• Please include this information in one document as you may only upload one file for this question. 

Eligibility:

• Selected artists must live within BC and be available to deliver, install, and pickup their pieces to the art gallery in person. Dates and times will be determined by the artist and organizer well in advance.

• Artists who have not exhibited in New Westminster in the previous year will be prioritized. Artists whose work has been exhibited in the gallery in the previous two years will not be considered (2024/2025).

  
  We strongly encourage applications from members of communities that are marginalized and/or that experience barriers including those identifying as Indigenous, Black, people of colour, 2SLGBTQIA+. We invite applicants to self-identify in their application if they feel comfortable doing so, as priority will be given to these individuals or groups.

  All artwork must meet the following criteria to be exhibited:

1. A minimum of 10 pieces to display
2. Pieces must be ready to hang and/or display with appropriate hanging wire, hooks, or d-rings. Further details will be provided to the artists following acceptance. 
3. Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot accommodate exhibits that include audiovisual or video components on display. However, we encourage the use of QR codes that link to digital components that patrons may view on their personal devices to accompany the physical pieces.
4. Pieces must be available for display for a minimum of two months.
